Package value £80 million
The project scope was to create a dive under the east coast mainline for freight rail traffic to reduce traffic on the network. The works included slewing 2 existing tracks initially into 2 new tracks which required the re-diverting of a brook through a number of culverts, the extension of a footbridge to enable the construction of the box culvert in the centre of the east coast mainline which would subsequently be jacked on a curve through 2 tunnels which would eventually take the new line.
Members of our team were responsible to deliver the enabling packages (approximately £40 million) which included the slewing of the tracks, the brook diversion, RC and pre-cast culverts and the associated water management, logistics, sub contractor management and self delivery.
